Here at Beachcomber of Manasota Key, we offer kayaks,
paddle boards and bikes so that you can experience all the fun of the Key!
When you are ready to venture further, there are many choices of other activities to do on Manasota Key
and in the surrounding cities!
The beaches... of course, (including our very own Stump Pass State Park), fishing, local farmer’s markets,
daily yoga on the beach, parasailing, jet ski rentals, boat tours, golfing, pickleball, visiting the local parks
and viewing classic cars.
Within a short radius, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy some fascinating day trips
and experience some of our fantastic State Parks!
Our Beaches
As we all know, the beaches are one of our most popular destinations!
An unusual feature of our area beaches is the high number of sharks teeth that wash up on the shores. Fun for both kids and adults, hunting for sharks teeth is sure to create lasting memories and distinctive souvenirs. Each beach is unique in our area! Be sure to check out each one for fishing, shelling and shark tooth hunting - you will be amazed at the vacation keepsakes that you will discover! The local beaches located on the Key are: Stump Pass Beach State Park, Englewood Beach,
Blind Pass Beach
and Manasota Beach.

Below are some tips to ensure that your dog’s “beach day” is a successful one and fun for both you and your pet..
Tips For Bringing Dogs To The Beach
Check For Pet Friendly Beaches: Local regulations apply and some beaches do not allow pets on their premises
Safety First: Bring a shady umbrella to help your dog stay cooler. Also bring plenty of cold water and frequently check
for any signs of heat fatigue.
Clean Up: Be sure to pick up any droppings so that the beach is nice to use for everyone else too!
Rinse Off: Carefully rinse and wash your pet to make sure no sand and salt water sticks to them, which can be highly irritating.

Fishing is one of those fundamentals in life tying everything together...nature, water, fresh air, and recreation.
We have all types of fishing; salt and freshwater, beach, bay, close to shore, and miles away from shore.
This could be the day you catch the big one!

Getting Started
The simplest and easiest way to begin is to head for one of the public fishing bridges or piers.
Be sure to visit the Tom Adams Bridge fishing pier. A bait and tackle shop is located at the base of the bridge.
A second option is the beach where a light rod can be fun.
Once you get on the beaches of the Key you will have thirty miles to call your own. Fish wherever you want.
Another way to get out on the water is to rent a boat. A few nearby boat rental locations are:

One more really good way to get started is to book a trip on a charter boat.
A day on the water with a charter boat captain will help you learn about finding the fish,
fishing techniques, and all the necessary gear.

One last item, you might want to consider attending an Englewood Fishing Club meeting at Lemon Bay Park
held on the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m.
There is a speaker at every meeting - often charter captains who will generously share their expertise.
Farmer’s Markets
There are several farmer’s markets in the area - a great destination to sample the local produce and enjoy our fantastic Florida weather!
Check out our very own Englewood Farmers Market located on Dearborn Street in downtown Englewood.
It is open every Thursday from October thru May from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
If you want to venture a little further away, you will find comparable farmers markets
such as the Venice Farmers Market and the Sarasota Farmers Market.
Also, consider a visit to Detwilers Farm Market
in Venice - a family owned Florida farmer's market featuring produce, meats, cheeses, seafood, deli, bakery, and ice
cream. Open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Yoga on the Beach
"Good Morning Yoga" on Englewood Beach Every Day!
Class is held every day by Loving Light Yoga (holidays included) from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Englewood Beach Park.
Join us at the north end of the beach, just to the right of the pavilion.
Donations graciously accepted.

Bring a blanket or sheet and plan to smile and have fun!
Parasailing, Jet Ski Rentals and Boat Tours
If an adventure on or above the water is what you are looking for, then look for one of the several companies
in the area that rent jet skis or will take you parasailing (for a bird’s eye view of the key!)

PRWC is a non profit rehabilitation and education center with a gift shop located in Punta Gorda overlooking Charlotte Harbor.
This facility is open daily to the public from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
All donations and gift shop purchases go directly to the care of the wildlife patients and residents.
If you have a large group that would like a guided tour, please call the office for a reservation.
On your tour, you might see bald eagles, hawks, ospreys, sandhill cranes, herons, comorants, tortoises and turtles.
Sanibel Island & Captiva Island
Located just west of Ft. Myers, these islands are a wonderful escape over the three mile causeway to a refreshing pace of life.

Tucked away on the south end of Manasota Key, there is a mile of beach where seashells and sharks teeth wash up
and anglers fish the surf for prize catches.
Visitors and locals come to this secluded beach to enjoy the year-round swimming and sunbathing.
A hiking trail passes through five distinct natural communities that provide homes for many species of wildlife.
Relax with a picnic lunch at the covered tables located along the trail.
For a water adventure, you will be able to launch a kayak and paddle around the two islands just east of the park's land base.
Keep your eyes open when visiting this park and you might see manatees, dolphins, gopher tortoises, snowy egrets, least terns, ospreys, and magnificent frigate birds.

Surrounded by urban sprawl, this State Park is an unexpected oasis providing visitors with a refreshing escape into natural Florida.
In the winter bald eagles nest here and in the summer Lake Osprey attracts anglers, swimmers, and kayakers.
Fifteen miles of trails provide solitude, beauty, challenge, and a healthy adventure for everyone.
The park is a popular stopover for bicyclists and walkers on the Legacy Trail.

This is the Myakka River, Florida’s first state-designated wild and scenic river, and it flows through a vast expanse of
unspoiled wetlands, prairies, hammocks, and pinelands that make up Myakka River State Park.
Boating, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking are popular activities on the water
while hikers and bicyclists explore miles of trails and backroads.
A unique feature of this park is The Myakka Safari Tram Tour which is a three-mile loop into the center of
Myakka River State Park where public vehicle access is prohibited.
The knowledgeable tour guide will share information about the parks history,
the culture and lifestyle of Myakka’s pioneers and wildlife points of interest.
This one-hour narrated tour offers an opportunity to see wild turkey, deer, alligators, and a variety of birds.

Located between Knight Island and Little Gasparilla Island, beautiful Don Pedro Island State Park
is part of an extensive chain of barrier islands extending along Florida's Gulf Coast.
Don Pedro Island is accessible only by private boat or ferry. Boaters can tie up at the dock on the mangrove-lined bay side of the island.
Boat to Beach offers an “on-the-water taxi service” from the park’s land base to the island. Call 941-375-9299 to reserve your trip.
The island’s 1-mile white sandy beach is a paradise for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and shelling.
Visitors can also enjoy a picnic under the large pavilion or explore the hiking trails.
The land base side of the park on the Cape Haze Peninsula is popular among hikers and nature lovers.
The 100-acre land base offers a kayak launch, fishing dock, nature trails, and a picnic shelter.
