About Manasota Key
Manasota Key is located south of
Sarasota in the city of
Englewood. Manasota Key is a barrier island that is 7 miles long. One side faces the calm, blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the other side is the intracoastal waterway,
Lemon Bay. Manasota Key has four main beaches to choose from. By foot, bicycle, or car
Englewood Beach is just minutes away from our Beachcomber beachgront bungalow retreat. Englewood Beach has a boardwalk, covered picnic areas, and restrooms. Restaurants, bars, shopping, and waterfront dining locations are across the street from Englewood Beach. North of Englewood Beach is
Blind Pass Beach. This is another great spot to search for shark teeth or to take a walk on the nature trail through sand dunes and mangroves. Farther north, Manasota Beach offers another spot to explore and is a popular snorkeling area. You are also within walking distance, 3 minutes, of
Stump Pass Beach State Park another Manasota Key treasure. Stump Pass Beach covers the southern end of the key.
Things to Do
There's plenty to do and see. Countless hours can be spent exploring, shelling, hunting for shark's teeth, or just relaxing on the quiet beaches.
Stump Pass Beach State Park can provide you with opportunities to view dolphins, manatees, loggerhead turtles, ospreys, and egrets as you stroll the sandy beach, hike the trails, or glide along the shoreline by kayak or paddle board.
You are also within walking distance of Lemon Bay which is the perfect spot to set off in a kayak or on a paddle board to get a closer view of the intracoastal wildlife along the mangrove fringed shoreline. Catch a glimpse of dolphins and manatees as you fish.
