Nearby Places To Visit

Little Gasparilla Island
This barrier island is the southernmost of a small chain of islands including Palm Island and Don Pedro Island.  It is a highly remote island that does not have roads inland and is home to almost exclusive private property (other than public access to the beaches on the island).  With this island being a remote one, you'll need to find water ferry service to reach the island or have access to a private boat.

Stump Pass Beach State Park
Visitors come to this State Park and secluded beach on the southernmost end of Manasota Key to enjoy the year-round swimming, shelling, fishing and scenery, as well as the 1.3-mile hiking trail.  The trail passes through five distinct natural communities that provide homes for many species of wildlife such as manatees, gopher tortoises, snowy egrets, least terns, and magnificent frigate birds.

(Pets are allowed on the trail in this park but not on the beaches.  They must be well-behaved and kept on a six-foot, hand-held leash at all times.  Pets must not be left unattended, nor taken into restroom facilities or onto playground equipment.)

Venice, Florida
The city of Venice is only about a 25-minute drive away.  Here you will be able to play in the surf, hunt for prehistoric shark teeth,

shop through downtown, bike around the Venetian Waterway Trail and "catch the big one" at the Venice Pier.

Venice Beach, a large public shoreline with nearby restaurants, volleyball courts, and grills.

Brohard Paw Park welcomes unleashed dogs on the beach to play in the water.
