why do I want to vacation there?
Manasota Key
is an 11 mile long beautiful barrier island located south of Sarasota and Venice and less than 10 minutes away from Englewood. Manasota Key has an 'old Florida' feel where the beaches are at their best! We make it easy for you to relax and enjoy your vacation in our laid back beach town with no fast food chains and no traffic lights. A true getaway in paradise is waiting for you at Manasota Key with plenty of things to do!
Local Beaches - where are they and
how do I get there?
Manasota Key is best known for having little-known beaches. There are a number of these local beaches in the area including Manasota Beach, Blind Pass Beach, Englewood Beach, and Stump Pass Beach. Our Beachcomber of Manasota Key properties are all within easy walking distance to the beach (less than 2 or 3 minutes). We have direct beach access through public right-of-ways, as well as deeded beach access from our properties. We provide beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand & water toys, and beach buggies. Or grab one of our bikes and pedal your way to the beach! There is something for everyone. Whether you are a couple, friends, or you need family-friendly rentals, we have what you need for a successful getaway.
Surrounding Communities - how far are they and what can I see there?
Manasota Key is a community of Charlotte County Florida. Less than 10 minutes away across the Tom Adams Bridge, you will find Englewood, a typical old Florida town nestled along the shores of Lemon Bay. Located further north are larger cities that are still close to Manasota Key. Venice is about 30 minutes north by car and Sarasota is about an hour north by car. St. Petersburg and Tampa are about 1.5 hours north.
Florida Wildlife - what will I see
and where are the best spots to observe?
Keep your eyes open when visiting Manasota Key and you might see manatees, dolphins, gopher tortoises, snowy egrets, least terns, ospreys, and magnificent frigate birds. Borrow one of our kayaks or paddle boards and check out some wildlife up close and personal! Turtle nesting season occurs between May 1st and October 31st every year. During the first half of the season, female sea turtles come on shore to build their nests and lay their eggs. Beginning typically in July, the baby sea turtles start hatching and embark on their journey back into the Gulf of Mexico. Also, we share our state with about 1.3 million alligators so you might see one in the local waterways when you are out and about!
Local Weather - what’s the weather going to be like
during my stay?
Like so much of the “Sunshine State”, Manasota Key is known for its fine weather with an annual average temperature of 73 degrees and 250 sunny days per year!
The winters are mild and the summers are hot and humid.
Hurricane season begins as early as June and can stretch into early November.
